Collarenebri Weir over the Barwon River

Travelling through town we stopped to stretch our legs with a population of just under 400 is renowned for having some of the best inland fishing in NSW.
The weir was the first weir constructed here and there are Aboriginal Rock Fish Traps still in use today. With great cultural and historical significance they can be viewed from the bank when the water is low.
We took the dirt road from here to Lightning Ridge. This is definitely not an all weather road and whilst shorter in length it will take a lot longer to travel.
It is possible to see the native rock fish trap formations on the far bank below the weir. Still used by modern Aboriginals.
